While Clint was in his office, Kitty was entertaining Barney at the house. Which she was totally fine with, since they got along and it always gave them an opportunity to talk about Clint stuff. There was no bad there.

"So how are things in New York?" she asked, taking a seat on the couch.

"Fine," Barney said, sticking his head in the fridge to see what Clint had in there. Things that were clearly Kitty's, he'd leave alone, but his brother's food was fair game - assuming he had any. "The tenants are weird, the city is weirder. How are things here?"

"Weirder than New York," Kitty said honestly. "It's been pretty quiet lately, though. Makes it harder to procrastinate on stuff." Dammit, Fandom.

"What are you trying to procrastinate on? One of your ten jobs?" Barney said, but he was smiling as he came back to look at her.

"Hey, I'm down to..." She had to count on her hand. "...two. And no, procrastinating on planning stuff."

"I noticed you still have your ring on," Barney said, grinning. "You know you don't need to get elaborate on my brother's behalf."

"Oh, we're so not getting elaborate," Kitty assured him. "It's just so much stuff. It's intimidating."

"Have you considered Vegas? I'd come help. Chapels aren't the type of places I get banned from," Barney offered.

"You are definitely related to Clint," she grinned. "My mother would kill us if we did Vegas. But I don't think we're going the chapel route either. We don't want anyone getting banned or busting into flames."

Barney snorted a little before sitting down next to her on the couch. "You're really serious about marrying Clint, aren't you? Even knowing how crazy things get around us?"

"Things get crazy around me, too," Kitty pointed out. "I'm serious enough to have the dress."

Because even if the rest of the detail-planning was intimidating, she had one of the big things down as soon as she'd been able.

"Wow," Barney said, genuinely surprised. "Okay, you're serious, I believe you. It still just seems weird, I guess. Never thought either of us would actually get married."

"Life throws some curveballs," Kitty said with a little smile. "I'm kinda betting it's going to take some getting used to even after we go through with it. Did you never even want to?"

"See, that's the tricky thing about getting married. It involves two people," Barney said with a smirk. "The only person who's ever been willing to put up with me for a long period of time is Clint."

[throughaphase]

"That just means you haven't found the right person. Not to be cliche about it," Kitty told him. Even if she was totally cliche about it. "I mean, it worked for your brother."

Barney laughed and shook his head. "I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed. I would have said the same thing about Clint, but then you came along and... neither of us were expecting you, I think."

"I get that a lot," Kitty smiled, and shrugged. "Clint and I are something where neither of us was looking for it but everything clicked. And then kept clicking. I'm still surprised sometimes."
