with regard to a certain sporting event that happened this weekend, i -- oh, fuck it, i can't even. i was going to try and say something about boston sports fans, and how i know we look like assholes to the rest of the country, but you've gotta understand, every day most of us leave our rent-gouged apartments to slog through weather that's too cold ( Read more... )

i am going to outside the city of somerville for the entire day! like many people in the boston metro area, i live in somerville but work in boston. so technically, i will be outside the limits of the city of my residence all day. different county, even! also, i went to undergrad in oregon and worked for the democratic party of oregon during the 2000, so you will find no bigger advocate of vote by mail than me.

re: hillary and the war, i don't even necessarily blame her for voting for the war. everyone voted for the war! like i said in my post, i really think there's a good chance that the only reason obama didn't vote for the war (for the good of the country, to show unity in a time of great national crisis, because it was the will of the majority of the country, blah blah etcetera) was that he happened to not be in congress at the time. what bothers me about hillary and the war is the same thing that that bothered me about john kerry and the war four years ago -- yeah, she voted for the war, but she has a gold-plated get out of jail free card. all she needs to say is, "yeah, i voted for the war, because i was LIED to! the bush administration told us there was concrete evidence of WMDs and i believed them, and i voted for the war. had i known then what i know now, i might have made different decisions, but THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION LIED ABOUT THE WAR, MMKAY?"

i just don't understand why candidates who voted for the war don't do that.

Exactly. There are plenty of people saying that - why not the senators? Are they really afraid people will think they're stupid? Well, someone did ask Hilary if she was admitting that she was "naive" (another darn gendered adjective) for believing Bush. Seriously?!
