A Whole New Decade
one decade has ended and another one has begun. it's kind of strange having to say 2010. something about it doesn't sound right, but i have realized that it will probably be one of the most important/eventful decades of my life. i will be finishing up college and beginning a career, which means i will also officially be breaking free from my parents and not relying on them for everything. it's also in this decade that i'm sure many other major turning points will occur.
i guess for now, however, i will focus on the year ahead. it started out in an absolutely amazing way. somehow i was convinced that it would be a good idea to bring in the new year by doing the polar bear plunge. so i jumped in lake michiagan's 33 degree water was cheered on to put my head under, climbed out into 20 degree air with a fox 6 camera man in my face and sat down on the beach in incredible pain as everyone was telling me to dry off and put on clothes. yes, it was ridiculous but i am glad i did it. will i do it again, as of right now i have no desire what so ever.
after i warmed up it was time for aunt cindy's wedding which was a blast. joel met the extended family for the first time and with a little encouragement from jason drank a little to much. haha. he fit in perfectly. he did his dance for both my sisters and aunt mary, did a shot with my father, talked with uncle tony about rugby, was forced by my mother to ride home in the trunk of her explorer with jason while jen brit and i rode in the back seat with no one in the passenger seat haha, and him nick and jason were like 3 peas in a pod. he was embarrassed for drinking a little to much but he fit right in. over all it was a super fun night.
woke up saturday morning to my mother making breckfest for joel, brittany, and i. we all hung out for awhile before i took brit home and headed up north for yet another family christmas. later on that night i took joel home and stayed to play cards with his family and watch a movie with him. it was a wonderful weekend to say the least.
as for the rest of the year, i am excited. i'm working on finding an internship/job/anything that will give me experience and/or money. i'm getting a little stressed out about that situation but i know that i'm a hard worker and everything will work out in the end. my next semester may be challenging but i'm excited because i'm really getting in to what i want to be doing. i had a good last semester and was happy with my GPA so i am hoping to continue that. as far as a new years resolution goes....i will be getting in shape along with the rest of the nation. by goal is to be in shape by april 22, also known as, VEGAS! yes i am going to vegas with my sisters and can not wait. i haven't been on vacation in quite some time and am so excited to spend this time with my sisters.
beyond that i have no idea where the year is going to take me which i am perfectly ok with. i'll just live for the surprises and hope that they are good ones.
