I'm still learning how to get around on this thing. But to respond to my rapt audience, insomniacs one and all: the hot tub is a wonderful invention and since I've never seriously considered a drug habit the most decadent thing I can think to dedicate my life to. That said, I'm told it's most effective when it's a tad cooler out. 102 water is a powerful soak, but it doesn't feel as refreshing when the night air is stuck at 80 with the humidity to match. Now, this evening was somewhere below 70, so the contrast was noticeable and it makes you feel as limp as you can imagine. It DOES help with sleep. I still have the occasional night where come 4 am or so I'm staring at the ceiling contemplating mail I haven't sent, people I haven't called, tax paperwork I've forgotten to fill out, but overall sleep does seem slightly improved...you guys must come up to experience the joy -- though Tom will not be permitted to make "unko" in the tub. He'll have to stick with the rest of the yard.
Speaking of the yard, I mowed it today. Now that probably doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment, but it's a half-acre and I hadn't mowed it in two weeks and it's rained a lot and it was hot and buggy and it took me an hour and a half, instead of the customary 45 minutes because the damp grass kept getting jammed in the machine. Usually I look at the job as a mindless zone-out, a zen-like suburban msytical...fuck it, it sucks no matter how you look at it.
