INTRO:
The great thing about Firefly is that I can't ever really pick a favorite character. Because they're all pretty much even on the rock out scale for me. But, if I absolutely had to pick a favorite, River would certainly be in the running. She's like this magical whackjob space princess genius girl science experiment, man. She's beautiful and dangerous and damaged and she holds them all together like glue. She brings out the best and worst in people and then she twirls away, making some sort of weirdo cryptic "I just read your mind hahahaaa" statement, and just fills me with this uncontrollable glee.
There isn't any sort of story and it's not connected to any particular episode and/or the film, it's just River. I went with songs that felt a little bit unhinged and a little bit before their time and a little bit gorgeous because she is all of those things. And, uh, I also secretly like to call this my crazy, cowboys-in-space, plucky-guitars-and-electronica, future mix, but, uh, that is neither here nor there, really. Please ignore that I even said that. Thank you.
ANYWAY. This has taken me a really, really long time to finish. In fact, I thought for a while that I would never finish it because I just couldn't seem to find my feet. But, you know, it just goes to show that you can do anything if you're motivated enough. For some reason, I don't know, I feel compelled to make a long, drawn-out comparison to the Reading Rainbow theme song now. I think instead I'll just let you download the mix. ♥
