Two Tolkien-centric drabbles

Jan 22, 2009 09:23

On my birthday I offered up drabbles to people on my flist with birthdays on or near mine; here are the last two, one for wolfiekins (who gets a drabble just because!) and altariel. I obviously have Merry on the brain.

Title: Reunion
Pairing: Merry/Pippin
Rating: PG-13 (innuendo)
Summary: In the Houses of Healing, Pippin is gratefully reunited with his cousin. [I'll note this is only my second attempt at hobbit slash! Not explicit.]

It took unique Tookish persuasion, but Pippin won the Warden's approval for Merry to go enjoy his pipe.

"I know the city well enough. Follow me- we won't go far," Pippin said, sliding his hand into Merry's and ducking into a bright but partially obscured alcove. Once out of sight, he shoved his pipe in a pocket and grabbed Merry's jaw in his hands.

"Merry, Merry," he murmured before leaning in to claim his beloved cousin's mouth, feasting on a most rare delicacy.

"We've survived," Merry gasped. "We must celebrate."

"I promise you won’t sleep alone tonight," Pippin said, beaming.

Title: Conflicted Duties
Pairing: Éowyn/Faramir
Rating: PG
Summary: Éowyn is distracted from a task.

"How am I to find this horn if you will not refrain from seeking my attentions?" Éowyn asked, a laugh tumbling from her lips as her new husband pulled her into an embrace.

"By your stubborn insistence to accomplish what you wish," he retorted, though his tone held admiration, not bite.

"Then I am in a state, for I wish both to present Eorl's horn to Merry, but also to present my lips to yours," she said breathlessly. "But duty comes before pleasure."

"Ah, but one can take great pleasure in duty," Faramir murmured before kissing Éowyn with devoted fervour.
