Ohemgee, NDK was AWESOME! I had a blast. This was my fifth year there, and it did not let me down. Well... the dealer's room let me down a bit, but I don't have much money to spend at the moment anyway, so I managed to survive. I would have shelled out massive cash for a Death Note movie poster, but alas, there were none. Nor was there a single thing of Ouran besides the English manga, which I already have. We will all cower in FEAR when I get to Japan next semester and start Hunting for goodies. XD
The one and only bad thing about the con was that I LOST TAMAKI!
I JUST got three little Ouran thingies (they were supposed to be pins but I got sent little clippes instead-- not that I was complaining. It was Tamaki, Haruhi, and the twins!) a week or so ago, and I proceeded to attach them to my "Anime: Crack is cheaper" bag, only to look down on Friday night and see Tamaki VANISHED! UBER sad face. Still, at least it wasn't the twins-- I think I would have cried.
Hmm, let's see. What to ramble about first? Studio Madhouse, the studio making Death Note, Saiunkoku Monogatari, and Satoshi Kon's new film "Paprika," among many other anime (like FMA) had a couple of reps at NDK, which was awesome. I never did manage to make it to any of their panels, but at opening ceremonies they showed a long set of trailers for their stuff. I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the Death Note trailer to come on, but alas! it never did. I would have started screaming like crazy if it had come on, though, so maybe it's a good thing that it never did. XD There's some crazy stuff coming out of the studio soon, though, including Kiba, Red Line, Oedo Rocket, and all the above mentioned things, to name only a few. Besides, they made DN and Saiunkoku, so they automatically win at life.
I was lucky enough to catch the
Piano Squall concert on Saturday almost through a fluke, and I'm SO glad I went! That man has true passion for his music, and I almost started bawling at one point (during the FF Battle Medley) as I watched him play. Besides that, he's amazingly generous and donates all proceeds from his poster sales to the MS foundation. He's kind of like Mother Theresa, except he can play the piano like a god, is male, and wears leather pants. Besides, I don't really want to jump Mother Theresa...
SPEAKING of jumping people, there was the best L at the con. There were a number of them running around (it IS a fairly easy costume, after all), but this one was PERFECT. He was Asian, hot to begin with, and had L down from the tip of his hair to his toes. I saw him a ton of times, and he was even dancing at the rave a few feet away from me for a while (no, I wasn't staring at him and not watching what I was doing, not at all...). BUT of course, whenever I saw him, I either didn't have my camera or couldn't get to it in time. He'll just have to live on in my memories... *sniffle*
Apparently there was at least one Raito running around on Friday, but by the time I figured that out it was Sunday and the former Raito had changed to Haruhi. It was a girl I had a Japanese class a couple of years ago, so it was fun to run into her, at least. Speaking of Ouran, there were a bunch of cosplayers, but very few actually male and none of them terribly good. There were a lot of girls who just put on the male outfit. I want hot males, not chicks! ><;; That still didn't stop me from squealing, "Whee, Ouran!" whenever I caught sight of any of them, though. XD
Insomnia struck on Friday night, which may or may not have been a good thing. It was frustrating lying in bed for two hours trying to fall asleep, but then at 3a.m. I threw in the towel and decided to get up for a while. Lo and behold, one of my favorite anime, Spiral, was playing, so I watched that for a little while and then went to a karaoke room, where I sat and watched Jesus rock out Hotel California. I was rather amused. XD Anyway, then I made myself try to sleep again around 4:30. Cue more lying in bed, and hour and a half of sleep, and then even more lying in bed until I decided I was taking a shower and getting up and the others could just deal.
Saturday night, I raved. I raved like a madwoman. I raved like a madwoman running on an hour and a half of sleep. XD For someone who doesn't dance, that's really saying something. Last year was the first time I'd gone to the rave because the awesome kid I was joined at the hip with all weekend wanted to go, so I was forced into going, too. It seemed sort of fun, though I spent most of the time standing around like an idiot because I had no idea what I was doing, other than clapping for people when they did nifty stuff in the middle of the circle.
This year, however, was completely different. I danced like I had been doing it for years and it was GREAT. I stayed until 3:15a.m. when the DJs finally ground things to a halt. After my other friends wandered off to do whatever around one, I stayed there by myself. I did end up finding a friend from a class last year, though, so we danced for a long time and then hung out after it was over. I swear, by the time the music stopped and I had to start walking again, I felt like I was going to fall over. My body just didn't want to work. My friend and I sat outside with a couple of people from South Dakota and laughed since one of them was still swaying around a bit-- if you don't stop moving, the adrenaline won't wear off, right? XD I was still sore for a couple of minutes when I got up this morning. My friends and I got invited to a furry party, too-- we declined, but still. Amusing. ;) The rave was great though, and I think I'm going to have to go to the rave every year now. The hot, sweaty boys (some of them dancing lovingly with one another XDDD) totally make up for the smell of the room. XD
Panda-Z: The Robomation is officially cool. I heard about it last year but had not clue what it was about, but I caught a bit of it by accident while waiting for Trinity Blood to start, and I makes me giggle like a naughty schoolgirl. Well, okay, maybe not a nughty schoolgirl (that's reserved for thoughts of tying up L and depositing him on my bed...), but it's still way cute. There isn't any speech, it's kind of like the old movies where you see something and then the text is shown, and back to the scene... yeah. It's cute. I'll have to buy that sometime. Eventually.
Well, my fingers are a little tired and that's all I can think of off the top of my head to blab about that isn't insanely boring, so I think I'm going to shut up now. XD Maybe I'll go make that L icon I've been meaning to for forever. I just need to find the picture I want; unfortunately, I have no idea which volume it's in, so I'm going to have to go hunting. Ah, well. XD
Oh! There will be pictures up eventually, but I (like an idiot) forgot my camera cord at home, and I'm not getting back there for a couple of weeks, so they're going to have to wait. ;_; I'm brilliant, really. XP
Edit: I can't find the picture. Sad face! I went through all seven volumes with L but couldn't find it. I suppose I'll try again eventually, but not at the moment. *sighs*
