Finally got around to making a post. I had a ton of little things to say, none of which really merited their own posts. So:
~Saturday was my 20th B-day. Otanjoubi omedetou to me! XD
~Went and saw Eragon Friday night. Wow. Sadly, it wasn't quite as bad as I had hoped it would be. Still very, very mockable, however. For example, Jeremy Irons (I <3 you even if you insist on being in bad fantasy movies) was doing the opening narration and then it cut to Galbatorix, played by John Malkovich. His very first line, in an incredibly dramatic and evil overlordish way, was: "I suffer without my stone. Do not prolong my suffering." Yeeeeeah. I burst into laughter right about then, and then continued to laugh at exceedingly inappropriate times. Such as when a certain character played by a certain actor already mentioned in this post dies, and there is totally a conversation between him and Eragon that belonged in a gay porn when the lover dies. It was as follows: "You can't die! I need you!" "No, Eragon, it is I who need you. You made life worth living again." I kid you not. Oh, and at the very end, in the last shot before the credits, Galbatorix is all pissed off and takes his sword and slashes a tapestry in half and WOAH! LYKOMGTHERE'SAGRADONRIGHTTHERE. Now how did he hide that all this time? o.O Aslo, I was EXCEEDINGLY disappointed at the lack of Murtagh. First of all, he was not nearly as hot as he should have been. Secondly, he was barely in the movie and his part was relatively superflouous. It was like a token appearance so he could pop out in the second movie and be all "GRR! Fool! You trusted me for 30 seconds movie time and now I PWNS you with my DRAGON!" Admittedly, Eragon's pants were kind of awesome and I spent the entire movie staring at them, and baby Saphira was the most adorable thing ever. However, though the movie was only an hour and a half, it felt long; but at the same time, they glossed over so many things (like Angela and Murtagh and who Hrothgar was) without explanation that I wanted it to be a lot longer.
Overall consensus: don't waste your money. It's an okay movie, certainly not the worst fantasy movie I've ever seen, but it was not good. So unless you're a huge fan of the book, just don't. Wait for it to come on cable.
~I also saw Casino Royale a couple of weeks ago. I loved it! I'm not a fan of the Bond movies in general, but I really liked this one. Might have something to do with Daniel Craig being partly or fully naked for large chunks of the movie. That seems to be the consensus among most people I know, actually-- they didn't really like the series but adored this movie. So go see it. Though my heart bled when that lovely car was trashed. ;_;
~I watched "Nobuta wo Produce" and it was the cutest thing EVAR. I heart Akira-kun so, so much. Kon Kon! So if you need a jdrama to watch, go watch that one. It's a Cinderella story about a popular kid who's actually completely bored with life, Kiritani Shuuji, and a ball of awesomeness whom Kiritani hates and no one takes seriously because he clown around so much, Kusano Akira. They take a girl who's extremely shy and bullied and afraid of people and decide to "produce" her-- make her popular. But instead of all the movies where they give her one makeover and all of a sudden she's gorgeous and popular, it takes a long time and a lot of work on her part (and theirs) to help her become more popular. Even by the end of the movie she's not the belle of the ball, and for that very fact alone I love this series. Well, and Akira-kun. It had me bawling multiple times, and laughing even more. So go watch it! And the yaoi fangirl in you can be happy because, despite Akira-kun's statement to the contrary, you KNOW he has the hots for Shuuji-kun. C'mon, they sleep in the same bed together at one point! And they touch each other a lot! XDD But yes. How can you resist the pretty boys? XD
So I have my passport for the first time ever and I've got the visa allowing me to stay in Japan for a year and all my forms are in (I... think...) and I've got 31 days (not counting today) before I leave for Japan. I think I'm going to spend the month watching jdramas until my head bursts. Hey, it's practice for my Japanese! ;) Next up is Hana Yori Dango. I've seen part of Meteor Garden (I really ought to finish watching that on good ol' YouTube) and really liked it, so we'll see how Hana Yori Dango goes. Yosh!
Edit: I have apparently seen HYD before. XD But I can't remember the end! Oh noes! But... now I need to find something new to start downloading... hm... I guess I'll try "Summer Snow." Right.
