An Open Letter to Postal Service & Iron & Wine:

dear sirs and or madams:

if you do not get your song "Such Great Heights" way the hell out of my personal life i will hunt you down and hurt you. barring that, due to my early demise of brokenheartedness, i will leave instructions in my will that ben gibbard and sam beam be tied to a post and read the entire contents of my live journal And assorted typewriter musings (which detail in more well, detail, my assorted pains and longings surrounding the subject of love). It was downright congenial of you to pen such an adorable song. I fell into a sort of dozy euphoria when i heard Iron & Wine's rendition of it. Since then, however, it has caused me nothing but bittersweet grief in various forms by coercing itself to be played at a variety of functions and events where i have been in attendence, with or without an ex-significant other that shall go unamed, sometimes pre-ex-status, sometimes post-ex status, and sometimes in that little in-between area between post and pre. Last night was the last straw. I attended a showing of Garden State, quite innocently, intending to watch a movie and then go home quietly. Instead I am confronted with a fantasticly played out story with well written characters that draw me in. Then, at the "height" of my experience, you have to go and put that song in there. Do you like seeing me cry? Is that it? Are you guys getting your kicks out of the vast Soundtrack-To-Dot's-Life conspiracy? Well...to hell with your plans! I refuse to be a victim. You'll never again see me flinch at the opening chords, only to weep openly when Mr.Beam's voice comes in with "I'm, thinking it's a sign.." I'm keeping it all in, you hear?

p.s. to whom it may concern.
did you use to think the scrubs zach guy was almost good-looking, but now you realize that he's super adorable just beacuse he wrote a quirky movie about liking quirky girls and hugging them and then gave it the sweetest little soundtrack?

songs, gushing, rants
