The Book Meme, which I’m only doing because
cuteelf14 is making me…
1. Total number of books I've owned: Hard to tell, being that most of mine are packed up in boxes awaiting my moving, but a quick count of unpacked books brings the count to roughly one hundred.
2. Last book I bought: Le Morte D’Arthur, by Sir Thomas Malory.
3. Last book I read: Well, right now I’m just about wrapping up Edwin A. Abbott’s Flatland, and am about halfway through Douglas Adams’ The Salmon of Doubt.
4. 5 books that mean a lot to me:
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, (Victor Hugo) - Probably the most indispensable book I own. Read it at 12, fell in love, and I’ve kept it close ever since.
The Screwtape Letters, (C.S. Lewis) - Very deep, (without trying to be), and very applicable in any life at any time. It’s got modern classic written all over it.
The Silmarillion, (J.R.R. Tolkien) - Often overlooked in favor of his more marketable book(s), I find this one highly more enjoyable.
Ender’s Game, (Orson Scott Card) - First in a series of (so far) eight, this book shows just how un-childlike children can be, all while teaching valuable moral lessons and delivering some badass narrative.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, (Douglas Adams) - Because everything I ever needed to know, I learned from the Guide, (like that nice bit about towels).
5. Tag 5 people and have them fill this out in their LJs: Being that no memory exists in letting me differentiate those who’ve already completed the preceding meme from those who haven’t, I’m leavin’ this one open. Complete as you deem necessary.
And guess who's going to Star Wars Weekends, to see Warwick Davis?
