... is this box cursed to speak, perhaps? I hear many voices, and yet I see no one.

[There is a silent pause, broken eventually by the light scraping of boots on snow. Alucard is exploring the southern end of the city, just outside the dead treeline of the forest. He has been there for several hours already. So far, he has met no one... and so he ( Read more... )

It's not cursed. It's a communication device we are to use during our stay here in this city.

It'd be wise to find shelter, Mister Alucard. Not only because it's cold but there are still a few monsters that have not decided to hibernate in this weather.

A... 'communication device.' Were they enchanted to receive that ability?

The snow does not trouble me. [However, he is curious.] What is the appearance of these 'monsters?'

Only thing he needs now is some shades... loyal_cube February 19 2010, 04:05:41 UTC
No. It's not any type of spell or magic that makes them talk. It's something humans have created all by themselves. You may hear them call it technology. It uses electronic signals to transport messages. I'm not sure how it works exactly but it is very useful, specially when you can't use any magic at all.

If you need to speak to someone in a different language, typing with it will translate your message for you.

There are quite a few monsters, sir. Anything from Zombies and spirits, to deranged cows and small bats. Most are hostile but not all. Recently, their numbers have fallen due to the snow, I believe.

Excuse me for being rude. My Name is Cube. Even if you are accustom to the snowy weather, Mister Alucard... I'd suggest finding shelter. If you had any immunity to anything, it is most likely gone due to another technological device that has been placed inside your body called a "chip." It suppresses most strengths and magic one may posses.

[You have one half-vampire listening intently to your explanation. Not that he entirely understands it, but he is somewhat intrigued. And confused.]

You are saying that humans have created their own magic, of a sort? Did they use it to destroy this city?

[Noting the typing thing. That must be what the letters are for.]

I thank you for this information. I believe I will head into the city. ... How does one remove the 'chip?'

I will draw it someday... or never. XD loyal_cube February 19 2010, 04:21:47 UTC
It's not exactly magic, but it can do some pretty amazing things.

I do not know for certian if humans did this... I was told it was due to a breakout of some kind... but there is little information on that as it is.

You're welcome, Mister Alucard.

Well, removing the chip is no easy task. You can request to have one removed by one of our doctors in the hospital who have been trained on where their locations are but I must warn you, even if someone goes to remove it, it might not be in any of those locations. We have not been able to locate the 'current' location of the chips. So, most likely, yours will not be found in the spots we're accustom to. I'm sorry.

We're still recovering from a horrible blizzard, as well. I doubt any of the doctors here will be removing any chips for a while. Supplies are dangerously low and it would be a terrible rick to take... both for the patient and the doctor. I hope you understand.

I see... it is a mystery then.

[And more quiet while he listens to the chip explanation.]

I will ask again when the crisis has passed. My strength would be an asset here. [And its lack thereof a definite weakness. An uneasy one in particular with other vampires nearby.]

good idea~ loyal_cube February 19 2010, 04:32:37 UTC
Unfortunately...

Thank you for understanding.

Most doctors will ask you what strengths or "powers" you will be regaining upon removal. Meanwhile, please be careful.
