Losses

I got the Hell beat out of me this last year.

First and worst thing that comes to mind is losing Grandpa. He died on October 24th. Scroll down this journal some and you'll find a post asking y'all to pray for him after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I'm sure you folks prayed, but the cancer caught up with him, and his time came.

I was a pall bearer at his funeral, along with my cousin Cale. He got the full military honors. Taps, 21 round salute with the Garands, Patriot Riders showed up and did the color guard. I kept a shell from the rifle salute. Going to put a chain on it and wear it a spell, to remember him.

Blaine, if you're listening up there... Christ, I am going to miss you, old man. I learned so much from you, even when you didn't know you were teaching. Those are always the most profound lessons.

I won't say 'goodbye' though. There are no goodbyes in our religion. Only 'see you later.' You're standing in our God's glory.

So see you later, Grandfather. Hopefully I'll follow you there some day.
