Reason for the Season
Amidst all the good food and shiny wrapping paper, I hope that everyone stops for a moment to remember the real reason for this holy day. It's the day that we commonly celebrate the entering of the Light into the world, with the birth of the Christ-child. The King came onto the earth in the form of a small baby, born in a limestone cave used as a stable amongst livestock, swaddled in a thin robe, and laid to rest in a feed trough.
Hardly appropriate digs for the Supreme Being, wouldn't you say? But it was in this humility that He first expressed His love for us. And it only grows from there. So I hope that you say a quick thank you to Him that was born today, so that the rest of us could truly live, reflecting His love.
