Oh, man, I just got finished putting on the first coat of tung oil on the butcher's block and I know it's just the 1st coat but it looks *gorgeous*.

Tung oil's the best. It just... glows.

Fabulous on soapstone, too, btw. :-)

I've heard that it works really nicely with porous stone. It's made me think about going out and getting some, just to see what it looks like.

*nods* Definitely ... though one of the cool things about working with soapstone is that much of it appears very subdued -- washed out greys, whites, pinks, etc. ... then you finish polishing, start working in your Tung oil, and you discover deep, rich colours like you would never imagine. :-)
