SGA Fic Recs

Because I am, what's the word? Lazy. And having issues with my computer. And having no real comments about The Long Goodbye beyond: Ronon! Sweetie! My god, the trust you've placed in Sheppard. Seriously, he's pretty to look at and makes funny facial expressions, but what the hell did he do to deserve that type of trust from you? You are not Teal'c, and he is not Jack O'Neill. Please stop pretending.

This is more of an criticism of actors than of the episode: Dear Actors. I am very, very sure that somewhere in your special 'How To Become An Actor - I Mean Act' lessons you were given the assignment along the likes of "pretend you are a hungry five year old girl" or "you are a rabid Pekingese".

I am sure that during this period in your collegate lives your teacher/instructor/professor/guru told you about 'method acting' and possibly even told you to embrace the character! You aren't embracing the character! What is your characters motivation! Show us this, now!

Dear Torri: Please go back to class for this. Dear Richard Dean Anderson: You, too.

Playing the pod part of pod person does not immediately equate talking in a stilted, fucked up manner, okay? Okay.

Onto the recs.

Groundhog's Day Recs

Opportunity by dk_valentine - Rodney's stuck in a time loop, and oh my yes, it is an opportunity. For whom was the amusing part. Great character interaction, funny dialogue and excellent pacing. You! Zucchini!

Day Break by GiddyGeek Part One Part Two - John's in a time loop. Seriously, I'm addicted to time loop stories. I've always liked Groundhog's Day, thought it was hilarious. Loved the piano. And then came Window of Opportunity, which was the 1st real 1st run episode I saw of Stargate. And then came the WoO fics. And then came SGA. I can't get enough of them. Especially ones written like this one.

I really loved the tacked on dimension of John's exhaustion, because it added a sense of desperation to Sheppard's problem that stories like this normally don't have because... well, time's repeating. Why the hell would there be desperation? And I love how every time Rodney bawled out the scientists it was different. LOL! Oh my god, universal constants don't exist around McKay, which could lend me towards a whole real life experience physicists digression that I'm avoiding for the sake of everyone reading this. Favorite part? When Rodney reaches out to John and brushes his hair back. It spoke of such a deep level of intimacy and trust, far deeper than the quite nice sex scenes. That was McKay reaching out, taking a chance and showing an incredible amount of trust in John, and John just accepting and doing the same. Loved it. Great fic.

You Must Remember This by Auburn - Okay, yes, technically this isn't a groundhog's day story, per se. It is however close enough to fit. Very sweet ending.

And because the preceding have most likely already been read: Drabblish recs:

Closer by Nemesis - the writing on the wall haunts my brain. I can see it.

Curriculum by Skeddy_kat - a look at early Rodney.

Tomorrow by Akire - YES YES YES! The last line, that's it exactly. Exactly perfect and perfectly exact. Beautiful.
