So having heard back from all of the graduate schools I applied to, OU was the only school whose letter said something other than the usual "we cannot offer you admission at this time..." or some derivation thereof. However, today I received a letter from UVM saying that, despite the letter I received in March denying me admission to their graduate program, I have been awarded admission to their graduate program.
WTF?!
This is only partly good news, as the letter went on to say that they could not offer me a fellowship or assistantship for 07-08... however maybe if I wait a month or two...
Also, Vermont in state tuition costs more than UK's out of state, and since I'll be going to UVM as an out of state student, not to mention that grad school costs more than undergrad, well the loans I would have to ake out would very nearly match the sum of the loans I've gotten for UK... in other words it ain't gonna happen.
However, the upside is that this does make me feel better about reapplying to their program next year. With a better writing sample, and the experience I've accumulated I feel hopeful about getting in and maybe even getting funding.
