well, I got my reply from OU
After offering admission to the waitlisted, I'm left as #3 on said list. Thus, they cannot offer me admission, however they didn't send me a rejection letter "in case an accepted applicant changes his mind in the next few months and opts not to attend Ohio University."
I maintain that grad school limbo is far worse than if I had simply been rejected. Now I get to make plans for next year half hoping 3 people at OU decide to go elsewhere or spontaneously combust... This was truly disappointing news.
The only upside I suppose is that, if I apply next year, considering I would have since received my TEFL certification, and been paid to teach English, I feel my chances of getting in at the very least at OU are a bit better. I'm not sure if I should move on with my life and forget this sill notion of furthering my education or what now... is it foolish to assume I have a good chance of getting in next year?
