Yuletide Recs, part 4--RPF

RPF- 18th-19th c. Literature

To Have Known and Loved--Herman Melville and Nathanial Hawthorne, their relationship told in a collection of (mostly) false primary sources. Really well done and appealing to any student of literature.

RPF- British Comedy (Look at me with the RPF! I have very few RPF weaknesses, and this is one of them.)

Emma's Friends--NC-17--Stephen Fry/Hugh Laurie/Emma Thompson--This is delightful! The Stephen POV is wonderful and absolutely sounds like him. And there's Branagh bashing, and above all this story feels real, the way these things do happen in real life.

RPF- Comics Industry

Ten Scenes From Friendship with Alan Moore--Neil Gaiman/Alan Moore friendship with only hints of slash. This is adorable and touching and laugh-out-loud funny and it's hard to believe it's fiction, really. (Of course that's so messy with RPF.) But really, it's worth a read to any fan of both these extraordinary writers.

RPF-Doctor Who

Character Bleed--R, Simm/Tennant--This is a short little fic, but I really like it because it plays with the idea of characters desires coming into play in real interactions.

RPF-Punditslash

The Strange and Not Entirely Ineffective Courting of Jon Stewart by Stephen T. Colbert--I think the best thing about this story may be that it's not actually slashy. Much. Mostly, it's hilarious. It's like this strange fake-reality that's more real than reality. Or something.

And all this from a girl who doesn't read RPF. Much. Usually. Except for Yuletide. But, you know, when you think about it, people write RPF about historical figures all the time. Usually without porn. I suppose it's different if the person is dead. Hmm.
