I had to smile though. I usually have to jump through hoops for defaults not to be American and I still haven't managed in some cases.
I hated the new tab not becoming the active one too. You can install Tabs to the front and it will start working straight away: middle-click on a link and you get a new active tab. YAY!

I did find that someone fixed their date problem (such a pain for anyone outside the US) by ordering the languages in their settings (under Advanced at the bottom) so theirs was at the top. I have deleted everything but UK English in mine, but I imagine it would be useful to have secondary languages if you work in another one.
I use Chrome at work as that's the standard there and I can log in from home or anywhere as myself personally or two different work identities and get all my bookmarks and Drive access etc. I still like my Firefox though and have it as default at home. However AdBlock and Tabs to the front make Chrome as attractive.
