More Chrome craziness

OK, I figured out how to watch Netflix movies. NOW the problem - and it's not a life-threatening one, but it does need to get fixed and I cannot find ANYWHERE on the internet that tells me how to do it, ALL currency is shown as Euros. Every page, everywhere, even my own credit union accounts and retirement accounts. I discovered that if I mouse ( Read more... )

I googled the problem. Have you installed "Chrome Currency Converter" (CCC). It turns out the default setting for CCC is Euros and if you set it to USD it will be OK.

I had to smile though. I usually have to jump through hoops for defaults not to be American and I still haven't managed in some cases.

I hated the new tab not becoming the active one too. You can install Tabs to the front and it will start working straight away: middle-click on a link and you get a new active tab. YAY!

Wow, vilaikins, you are more help than all the message boards and "help" pages I could find! Where do I find "Chrome Currency Converter"? And I am definitely going to get Tabs to the front installed! Thank you!!!!

NO, don't install the currency converter! It's caused problems for people and I thought it might have for you. Maybe go to Settings, then Advanced down the bottom, and make sure your language is US English.

I'm going out now but I'll see if I can find out what else might be causing your Euro problem when I come back.

Ah, yes, well, so far it's been working OK and if it's causing problems I haven't come across them yet. It's a little gold symbol inside the URL window; when I'm on a site if I click on the symbol, it changes currencies to - whatever the right one is, from Euros. On a British shoe store site, for example, it changes the Euros to pounds. On an American store site, it changes Euros to the right amount of dollars. I would rather not have to do that myself, manually - seems like the program shouldn't be screwing up the currencies like this, but at least i can change them now if I have to.

And yeah, I already double-checked to make sure it was set at English. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. You're very kind. :)

I had another google and found someone here with your problem--and no fix--but if the currency converter solves it for you, that's good. My chrome shows everything in the right currency so it's a puzzle. Some people got the problem from having the currency converter installed so I thought that might have been the case for you. It's very odd.

I did find that someone fixed their date problem (such a pain for anyone outside the US) by ordering the languages in their settings (under Advanced at the bottom) so theirs was at the top. I have deleted everything but UK English in mine, but I imagine it would be useful to have secondary languages if you work in another one.

I use Chrome at work as that's the standard there and I can log in from home or anywhere as myself personally or two different work identities and get all my bookmarks and Drive access etc. I still like my Firefox though and have it as default at home. However AdBlock and Tabs to the front make Chrome as attractive.

I'll see if I can figure out how to put the US at the top of that list. Maybe that's it. Thanks again!
