2011/08/11-12 J - 赤坂 BLITZ; Tokyo, JP
Man, it's been a busy weekend... >_<; Actually, scratch that- it's been a busy 4 months! Looking back through my calendar, there hasn't been a single week without a concert and/or session since the week of April 10th. Dayum.
So, the latest- after Schwarz Stein, which was AWESOME, Sabrina had another live in 表参道. Couple days later was the non-smoking session, for which videos are up (I'm on S/T, Voivod, Oceán, Green Day, & Beyonce (just watch before you say anything... muahaha)).
Thursday started the latest string of events w/ J at Akasaka BLITZ. Not sure when exactly I started writing down guitar notes w/ my setlists (possibly the Luna Sea shows?), but after a few months of doing equipment updates for spfc, I have a slightly better ability to figure out what kind of gear is being used, so I can actually write down more info than just "blue guitar w/ 2 humbuckers" & a little outline of the body shape. :P" Anyway, show started about 7:06 w/ the usual "Shitty Future" over the PA:
Friday was the birthday live! There was the usual cake in the middle, and the usual J flinging half the cake into the audience, but we were too far back to get any this time. BUT! After the drum solo, I snagged another stick! It bounced out of my hand, but I dove for it & grabbed it at the same time as 2 other people, one let go right away, & then the other said はい、どうぞ (ok, you can have it). SCORE. And THEN? After the encore break, when J threw his towel out, it went straight over to where Maya & Lillian were standing- both managed to grab onto it w/ 2 others, & after a jan-ken (rock/scissors/paper), it looked like Maya won it, but since Lillian had lost hers on the train, she ended up giving it to her. >_<;

I also took note of the amp setups, as best I could (which wasn't very)- CB's got a Marshall & M/B head & 3 cabinets (4x12?), 1 definitely Marshall (black), one brown/tweed, & one black/silver. Gocchin's got a Hughes & Kettner head on an angled Marshall cab, & a Matchless head on another silver/silver cab. Not that I have any idea how/when they're used, or even what the sound differences are.. oh well. It's a slow learning process. But hey- I finally learned "that funky-shaped one" is an Explorer, and "those black/white double-SC-looking HBs" are 490R pickups. Maybe one day I'll understand WHY. :P"
Aaaanyway. After the birthday live, Maya & Lillian headed off to Club PYRO, which I didn't get into, but luckily I had BUCK-TICK night in 本八幡 to occupy me until 4am. Ended up playing 羽虫のように, 真っ赤な夜, RAZZLE DAZZLE, Les Enfants Terribles, 月下麗人, ミウ, 残骸, & Memento mori (which I'd never played before). Got home at "sunrise is way too freakin' early here"-o-clock, showered, & went to bed around 7am or so. Woke up & lazed around for a bit while Maya made hummus & brownies, & we headed off to Yoyogi Park for Kate's birthday party... and ended up on the very last train home, despite not planning on being out that late. D'oh. Oh well.
And THEN was Summer Sonic! But I'll make that its own entry...
