Saturday was another LUNA SEA cover band- all people from sessions that I know, except the drummer, whom I didn't really know that well. But damn, those dudes are GOOOD. o_O;; Got to drag along Myrrh & Cherie, who happened to be in town for a few shows, & proceeded to tell everyone there "They came from Thailand!", heh. Their set was heavy on the early period, w/ a "segue-way" into their next show at the end (and then an encore, since they were the last of ten bands to play that day):
  1. THE SLAIN
  2. MECHANICAL DANCE
  3. IMITATION
  4. SUSPICIOUS
  5. MOON
  6. SYMPTOM
  7. PRECIOUS...
  8. FATE
  9. STAY
  10. WISH

Sunday was the sometimes-erroneously-named LUNA SEA Nite (free session) in Motoyawata (3pm-10pm), & there actually happened to be a couple other guitarists there this time (despite there only being 15 people total) so I got to sit a bit & relax, and "only" played ~21 songs. Unfortunately, they had me sit back down for another guy to go up, who then proceeded to play the Sugizo part for MECHANICAL DANCE with no INO up there... ;_; Oh well. Not like I haven't played it before...

Monday was Double Concert Day. First up was a Sugizo fan-club show, which was SUPPOSED to start at 4, but was 1/2 hour late (I don't buy his excuse that 'someone told me 4:30', since there are plenty of other people around whose job it is to know wtf's going on... -_-;). They gave us free bags, which was kinda cool, but I didn't check out what other tour goods were available (in a valiant attempt to spend less money at shows).

The show was pretty much the same as the last couple Sugi FC shows- 5-piece acoustic set w/ Q&A sessions thrown in. Some of the Q&A highlights included:
  • Someone asked what song he recommends to cover for beginning guitarists, & he said "LUNA SEA's Déjàvu!" which prompted much laughter. He then went on to say that the LUNA SEA tab books are quite accurate, because they went through & checked them all, but X (Japan) score books were not. This prompted Satsuki to ask if he'd bought one, to which he said "No, but I looked at one once, & went- 'Hm, that part's wrong...' so I just learned it by ear." He also added that it's good to buy good score books, but also important to be able to learn by ear.
  • One question was about "biggest culture shock", & he said "In China & Taiwan... in the toilet... when they poop... they don't flush the paper, they throw it in a bin in the stall. I can't deal with that."
  • Someone asked what kind of women's fashion he didn't like- he said overly long/gaudy eyelashes "like a duck's bill". lol. Too bad he didn't mention those fugly giant lens-less glasses that have been spreading lately, maybe a few less people would wear them. -_-;
  • Not sure what the question was on this one, but he started talking about his hair, & how he only does it ~3x/year because of environmental concerns (for the lightening part, I take it)... For coloring, he only uses natural henna, but that limits him to just 1 color. I swear he said something else though about using olive oil (?) in his hair?
  • Pretty much the entire 3rd Q&A focused on Fukushima, volunteer work, the disasters, nuclear power, etc. That was the only question they had time for (he talked for quite a bit on it).
The set was similar to the last few- acoustic bossa-nova renditions of his own songs w/ a few tribute covers thrown in of people who've died recently- he mentioned how a lot of his sempai have been dying lately (TAIJI being the most recent), & that's part of life...
  1. Missing (instr, SGZ on violin)
  2. A Prayer (instr, SGZ on violin)
  3. Deliver
  4. Voyage [篠原ともえ] Q&A session
  5. The Girl in the Letters [bice]
  6. Sensitive [Mick Karn] Q&A session
  7. Le Fou
  8. Dear Life Q&A session
  9. Sweet
  10. Miranda
After that I dashed out the doors from my way-in-the-back-corner seat (apparently missing an encore, leaving me to wonder just how late the 2nd showing was), over next door to O-EAST, & up the stairs to head into Oblivion Dust. In my rush, I managed to first go up to the kankeisha desk, then once at the correct table, handed them my Sugizo ticket. D'oh! Pulled out the right one, passed over my ¥500 drink ticket fee, & fumbled w/ my phone a bit, while another girl came running up- I asked "Did you just come from Sugizo too?" & she laughed & said "yeah!" in that "OMG late, must hurry" rush. We ran inside (6:30 by this point) to hear the middle of Girl in Mono (apparently we'd missed 2 full songs- not terrible, but would've been avoided entirely had Sugizo been on time- thus the lesson learned reinforced: never depend on a rock star to be on time. -_-;).

OD was LOUD. Poor Girl was standing towards the back, waiting for me to come in w/ the earplugs (didn't think to grab her pair earlier, along w/ her ticket). There were tons of camera around for the Ustream feed as well, and Ken even said that they weren't just for the stream- they'd be releasing a DVD as well! W00t!

After that we stopped at GROM for gelato, headed home, & finally finished the last of Farscape. One more thing off the List Of Stuff To Watch, way too many more left to count. -_-;
