fuck id3

I'm so fucking sick of tagging a group of files, only to import them into iTunes and have the OLD tags (which they came with) show up instead. Call me crazy, but when I edit a bunch of tags, and the 2 different tools I use to do so clearly show that they've been updated, I kinda expect any other program to show the same thing. I do NOT expect to see missing information that I've already filled in, and I certainly don't expect to see things that I've CHANGED. Really- it shouldn't be that hard- the info is supposed to be encoded in the same part of the file. I'd blame it on iTunes, but seriously, there should be no way the old info is even still in the file to be able to read anyway. Unless it's somehow monitoring my MP3 directory & grabbing the meta-data before I even import them, which I find rather unlikely- esp. given since (well, most of the time, at least) whenever I make a manual tag update and then re-scroll over the tracks in iTunes, it updates itself. Mostly.

Maybe it's time to update my linux box... -_-;

EDIT: Out of nearly 1000 package updates (yeah, it's been a while), NONE of the id3-related packages have been updated. -_-;

mp3s, id3, computers
