Taylor Pugh is the four year old who was suspended because the school board's policy states that a hairstyle “designed to attract attention to the individual or to disrupt the orderly conduct of the classroom or campus is not permitted.”
When he returned to school without a haircut he was isolated from his peers and placed in an in-school suspension in the library under the supervision of a teacher's aide.
I'm pretty sure that exclusion, intolerance and rejection are not typically considered best practice for early childhood education.
On the plus side since he is not being socialized into the mainstream maybe this will ironically encourage him to know the value of independent thinking. =)
