I'm not a "fic" person -- I'm outside of that universe and it is strange to me. I don't understand how people can write for other worlds. I don't usually read it, not as a rule but again because something about it doesn't make sense to me.

HDM's world is, a thousand times more than any other, my favorite. I avoid fics for it like the plague because I can't stand the idea. I can't explain myself and this isn't the place for it.

I read this for no good reason, and it was very, very lovely. Extremely so. It was perfect and well paced and nice. I am a poor critic, and unfamiliar with fic style, so I guess my praises aren't worth very much, but I wanted to let you know that now when I talk about fanfiction and how I can't read it I'll say "Except for" and talk about you.

Oh, wow. That is, possibly, the best review I have ever gotten. Thank you so much. Just... thank you.

This was beautifully written. I love the way you've taken the world of HDM and used it creatively in this fic; your take on the culture and history of the witches fits in perfectly with canon, because of course they'd have been hunted at some point in Lyra's world where the Magisterium holds the power. I also really enjoyed your take on Serafina's character, past and personal choices. The themes of mortality, love and heartbreak are explored in a subtle yet powerful manner within such a short space.

Lovely, lovely work. There should be more HDM fanfic like this around. Thank you for sharing! :)

This is amazingly beautiful.

I loved: from the beginning to the end to the beginning to the end to the beginning to the end to the end to the end.

You're an incredible writer. Everything in this story is completely believable, and the relationship between the human and the witch -- and how she hides her immortality -- it's just beautiful, and it pulls at my heart. It's so sad and so cold, and I love it.

I love you. More fic like this needs to be written.

Cool! Multi-lingual fic - I like it. Go right on ahead, and wow, I’m flattered. I know about two words of Finnish (from an exchange student back in the day), but I’ll check out that site anyways, if only so I can see my fic in ANOTHER LANGUAGE!

Also - it’s really impressive that you can translate from one main language to another like that. I’m Canadian and speak fluent French, but still can’t manage to go back and forth very well. It’s the phrasing, I think. Alas.

Nice to meet you.

I decided not to wait for the grass to grow, and so, TA-DAH! Here it is, all translated!

Hope you like it ;----DDD

Thank you very much for your compliments and also for giving me the permission to translate your fic.

You should definitely write more fanfiction about His Dark Materials!

It is indeed very pretty and very... multi-syllabic. Finnish has longer words than I remember.

However, my Finnish is not quite as terrible as I anticipated, and I was able to get the gist of what was going on. (It probably helped that I remembered the English version, but NEVERTHELESS... We'll just pretend.) I probably now know, oh, five words. :D

Thanks for doing this. It was very flattering. (And you better believe I'm going to show off your version to everyone I know.)
