The Cup Song

Ok, so I'm a few years behind the rest of the world... AGAIN!

The other day a good friend of mine posted a video of a version of "The Cup Song"

It got my attention at least partly because it's just the kind of music I like singing, but also because the cup clap beat thing was something I'd not seen before.

I'm not a big fan of the current rash of teen movies an so "Pitch Perfect" had completely passed me by, but when the same friend posted this a few days later...

It got me looking up the how and the where of it.

The initial origin is from the movie "Pitch Perfect" and is performed by Anna Kendrick

But there's a lot more to this than just a neat bit of fluff from a teen movie.

The song it'self is much older...

and I have no doubt that the "Cup Game" is just a variety of "Claping Game" of the sort that appears in playgrounds and school yards around the world.

It's probably older than the song though my very quick and rough research hasn't turned up anything about it before this...

There are other versions too.

and a lot of tutorials available but this is possibly the best one that I've found so far...

Incase you wanted the lyrics...

Here's a start, but it's not QUITE the same as the original.
