True Blood: Tara, Get Thee to an ACOA Meeting

Okay, I watched True Blood last night and I have to wonder if I am the only person getting really tired of seeing Tara being cast as a perennial victim. I realize that she had a bad childhood and all, but still. Can't she read a self-help book or something to deal with her issues? What happened to the tough-talking chick from Season One?

Lately Tara has fallen into a pattern: 1)get angry, 2) get drunk, 3) do something stupid (wreck her car/move in with a Maenad/have anonymous sex with a strange guy), 4) wait for someone to rescue her. Now she is being held hostage by an obsessive, mentally unbalanced vampire. Don't get me wrong: I think that James Frain is doing a wonderful job as Franklin (who is creepy and obviously not quite right in the head). But the Tara of Season One would have at least cursed him out; I seriously doubt that she would have weepily ridden along as he drove her to Mississippi. Now we find out that Franklin wants to make her his vampire bride. IMHO, that would be an improvement: a pissed-off vampire Tara would be interesting to see, and definitely a force to be reckoned with. Anything has to be better than the perpetually victimized wreck that the character has become lately.
