Darien Lake

I'm back from vacation in Darien Lake! Located somewhere in the state of New York, Darien Lake is an amusement park with a confusing layout and one of the top 10 roller coasters in the US, I think. I'm guessing it was the Ride of Steel, because, according to a sign advertising Perry's ice cream, the drop is 208 feet. It's nearly vertical, too, and there are lots of whirlies and your backside is hardly ever in your seat. I rode it six times. There was also a wooden roller coaster that I went on seven-ish times, and it always gave me a headache after because it was so bumpy and loud. Another roller coaster called the Boomerang was very loopy and fun. Yet another was one of the ones that attach to the railing from the top and your feet are dangling. It was really out of the way, so I only went on it about three times. The "Viper" was green and, although it was fun, there wasn't anything very special about it. Another roller coaster had everyone sitting on motorbike-type seats, and it looked really lame until I actually went on it. It's much faster than it looks. There were other rides, of course; a big ferris wheel, a log ride, bumper cars, swingy things, etc. I went on most of the rides. But OH! There was a yellow submarine ride for kids that went up and down, and I got in line but then the lady said I was too tall to ride it. Dx And it looked like so much fun, too.

Besides the regular park, there was a water park. Since it rained every day we were in Darien Lake, we spent a grand total of about half an hour there. There was this one really fab waterslide that dropped you into a giant funnel. There were also some live shows, but after we saw this thing called Rocknation, we decided not to see any more. As soon as the announcer said that there was going to be a lot of headbanging, I knew there wasn't going to be a lot of headbanging. Although, we did see a laser show, and it was cool. It was raining, and they had smoke machines, so the lasers looked glittery and neato burrito. I found a Flight of the Conchords poster in one of the shops... so I bought it. I'm flattening it out right now so I can put it on my door.

After we left the park (two and a half days there... my legs HURT afterwards), mummmy wanted to go shopping, so we stopped at a mall. My fam left me asleep in the van and bought me a pretty shirt. However, waking up alone freaked me out a bit. They came back for me after a little while, and we found a Converse store with THREE BIG SHELVES on clearance. I ended up getting a pair of Grateful Dead ones and off-white ones. My sister got her very first pair of Cons, too, and they're lovely. If her feet weren't so enormous, I'd make her share them with me. We also found a fab store with a name that i forget, and I bought a backpack because I need one. My sister got the same backpack.

We got home at around 10 last night, just in time for me to catch the ending of Wayne's World 2. Pictures of the trip and my lovely new stuff soon, possibly.
