projects progress. Got an invitation to be in a show in Italy "Contemporary Icons"...but on investigating the gallery and the circumstances, I'm going to decline. There are too many artist traps out there.
This weekend we got some roses to plant. So excited. Roses are something I always pictured I would have in my own garden when I one day had a house. The house I grew up in had as many as 60 roses bushes- 3 deep in front of the house, along the driveway, and in the side yard, climbing the front of the house... everywhere. Planting some in the garden is one of the things that is making me feel like this house is really ours. I got three so far.. but I think I'll get at least one more this season now that I've sorted the layout a bit.
We also finally got the sand for kiddo's sandbox and set it up. It made it a lot easier to do the digging and transplanting of the current plants because kiddo was occupied.
She can get pretty much anywhere in the back yard now and so she was also happily digging in the dirt from the holes, finding rocks and making little piles of them, planting herself in one of the rose holes... I ended up lifting her from the yard directly into the bathtub for a rinse-off.
Whenever kiddo is not running around in circles, chasing things, squealing, bouncing, etc. she is either watching intently or looking at books. She LOVES books. I started reading to her pretty much from the first week. Now she always seems to have one in hand (either on her own or bringing it to us). She also is rather terrifying at using the ipods. She can open them, go through tthe aps, find her aps (numbers, letters, shapes, drawing, animals...), open them and play them. It's pretty disturbing.
I feel so lucky to be here in our house with this awesome kidlet and my sweet man. Nice to finally have some time to start making the house ours.
