Friends

I just have to say that my friends absolutely rock. The people in my life rock.

Some of it is more obvious. If one is at a performance, the chances are my friends are on stage, or managing the stage and tech, or writing it, or coordinating it, or behind a camera shooting it. So many of them are doing interesting things in their fields- whether that's science, writing, art, computers or circus madness.

Even more, the people who aren't necessarily on stage or in the public eye, or even obviously proactive in their field are incredible people. They are people I trust, love respect, and admire for their uniqueness. Some I have known as well as my own skin, others I only get glimpses of as we randomly connect and wander, but I looking around I am delighted by the brilliance. Some are only on the fringes of my life, brightening the world around them.

People with active minds and imaginations, a desire to change and challenge... People who question their world. People with quiet, peaceful reflection and appreciation, or puck-like playfulness, incredible compassion, or immense strength of self. People who build things that didn't exist before they thought of them. People who will set aside everything to help someone, or be there, or lay themselves open and vulnerable regardless of what people may say. Who do things or say things or even just wear things that help thwart the inertia of banality and conformity in the world.

No one shines all the time. We're all busy being human here. Some (including me I think) are not near their true potential, but I am so incredibly pleased for such company. :) Getting in touch with more old friends just makes me realize how incredible everyone is. Thank you.
