1. trust - a feeling of comfort in a relational aspect between two or more people in which there is no expectation of betrayal of confidence in words or deed.

2. Faith - a feeling that there is a basis for trust or belief though evidence may not be there upon which to base the feeling.

3. devotion - a desire to offer unfaltering trust in a belief or person, be there evidence or not that the trust is well founded.

4. patriotism - Pride in ones country of origin or residence.

5. religion - a faith based feeling regarding other, higher, powers of some manifestation or another which influence or influenced the world one lives in.

6. scientific inquiry - investigation into something from the standpoint of tangible or measurable facts or observations.

7. atheism - a belief that there are no higher powers of any sort which currently or historically have influenced the world one lives in.

8. belief - A feeling, often expressed by faith, in something being a certain way.

9. logical process (explain) - The process of viewing or expressing thoughts in a manner which can be seen as measurable, much in the same way as Scientific Inquiry. Logical Process is open to interpretation, however, as what one being may consider to be "logical" or the "correct steps to follow" another being may view in an opposite manner.

10. idolatry - The iconic worship of another entity, whether in mental or physical form, as being of a higher status or position than what the worshiper believes themselves to be at.

As for people to use as references on these subjects... I think you've made the best choice by asking your peers. The definitions as listed above are simply my own views of each term.
