I felt like a total llama when I had to turn to
Wired to figure out how to manage my music collection the way I want, a shame that is only slightly mitigated by the fact that they scooped
/. too.
So now I use
iTunes to rip and burn music,
winamp to listen to it,
mlipod to manage the music on my iPod,
hymn to strip out the DRM,
imToo to convert AAC to mp3, and good old IE ftp to upload the mixes to my website for fair-use consumption by my friends.
Sort of 1337, but really seems like a lot of work for some pretty basic functionality.
