Soft-Core Eco-Terrorism

The poster for this movie provokes a rather mixed response.

On the one hand, the kids facing down a bulldozer is strongly evocative of Rachel Corrie's murder. Ms. Corrie's story deeply affected me when I first heard that news. She was from where I'm from, more or less. I was moved by her courage. Imagery that commercializes her stand rubs me the wrong way. I doubt the film-makers and marketers were consciously playing up this connection - Ms. Corrie's story was not very widely reported and did not really lodge within the national consciousness. All the same, I can't help but be reminded.

On the other hand, the owl in the foreground REALLY reminds me of the Stuart Song by Dead Milkmen. After reading the blurbs about the movie itself, turns out that critter REALLY IS A BURROW-OWL. And that's pretty cool.
