Aw, don't be so surprised! You write awesome fic like that and of course people are gonna like it

I've never been good at judging awesomeness or lack thereof when it comes to my own fics. I can recognize it in other people's, but I have a hard time telling if what I've written is any good outside my own head.

They're close enough that in a lot of ways, sex isn't going to seriously change their relationship

That's pretty much how I see it, too. Sweet.

because of Daniel's issues with Shifu and such

Yeah, I debated giving Daniel more angst during the labour scene in deference to his experience with Sha're, but I figured A) he wouldn't be letting his pain show while Sam needed his support so much, and B) she wouldn't have noticed even if he had.

But I love that you let Sam rage and let them find a way to work through it in a way that felt real - you didn't go over angsty or over schmoopy.

And nothing can make you want to rage quite as much as pregnancy. And my experience was consensual and non-career threatening. Poor Sam.

As for schmoop, I find I'm becoming more and more allergic to it as time goes by. Ugh. And now I have both Unchained Melody and As Time Goes By in my head. Stupid irony.

That makes perfect sense. I don't know how many times I've sent a rough draft to someone because I had NO IDEA if it was good enough to bother editing.
I've found that sometimes with older fic I can go back and see that it's not bad but it's really hard with your own writing.

Yep. Someone, I think it might have been surreallis said once in either meta or a fic that it was almost like by the time they reached a point where they could have followed up on (what I think was) flirting/attraction early on, they'd essentially gotten too close and moved beyond that point. Which doesn't mean we can't shove them together anyway :)

Oh, I think Daniel was perfect in the labor scene. I mean, he's delivered, what, 3 babies by now? And I loved the way he dealt with the (lacking) medication and, yes for your reasons too :)

Hee. Eh, I have an odd fondness for Unchained Melody. But it's one thing in song and one thing overdone in fic...

Excellent points, both hers and yours. :)
