For those who follow me on Twitter, forgive me if this sounds familiar. This post is a repeat and continuation of a few tweets.
I finally watched "Hugo" this evening. I thought it was a bit slow at first, but when Scorsese finally revealed the theme of the movie, I thought "Yes! That's how I feel". Hugo is based on one my favorite themes, that we're all just cogs in some great machine, and we're unhappy when we're broken.
This is also why "Helplessness Blues" by Fleet Foxes is one of my favorite songs. Sure, it's a beautiful melody, but the lyrics pose this same idea.
I've felt broken on and off since 2007, but Hugo has reminded me that there is hope of being repaired.
