The Vodka Martini Scale

Mar 24, 2010 18:37

I've managed to broaden the scope of the weekly restaurant visits with my dad. Originally, we stuck to what was familiar, i.e. the local Hungarian restaurant officially known as Europe Restaurant and Bar, which I unofficially call Café Jerusalem because of the mural on the wall that indicates it must have been a Middle Eastern restaurant before. No way there are olive trees, arches, dusty streets and flat-roofed stone buildings on the Danube.

At each restaurant, my dad orders two vodka martinis, and comments on their quality. So I've started asked him for a rating, from 1 to 10. I hereby present:

Dad's Vodka Martini Rating Scale

Le Paradis (French, Dupont-Avenue): 8.5/10
Europe Restaurant and Bar (Hungarian, Lawrence-Bathurst): 8/10
Chimichanga (Mexican, Yonge-Eglinton): 5/10

Other:
Sushi Supreme (Japanese, Yonge-Davisville): Martini unavailable. Sake was a reasonable substitute.
