Damn RAM!
I don't know if the computer store was deliberately trying to scam me, but the two units of 512MB RAM they sold me (labelled 512MB), both turned out to be only 256MB when I installed them. True, I know next to nothing about computer components, but I can at least determine the capacity of RAM I install! There is a 90-day warranty, so I'm going to have to trek all the way back downtown and exchange them. I might demand my money back and take my business elsewhere. Except they gave me a pretty good price. I'm indecisive...
