The Wii wants me dead, apparently

We got our Wii fit yesterday from Amazon, and I'm psyched about it!

I'm still learning how to use it, and I think some of my confusion in how to operate the thing lead to me getting a worse score (I have evidence for this, which I will mention later on). Originally it said I was obese (I am, and it weighed me a full 8 pounds more than the bathroom scales do, which makes me think the bathroom scales are crap) and my Wii!Age was 44. Which is even worse than Andrew's score of being overweight and 40.

I actually cried over it and was crying through the first two rounds of step aerobics I did. Which caused me to suck at it. Crying during exercising? Not that fun. Also, makes the exercise harder and probably less efficient. But, as I focused on the step aerobics and told myself that it's okay, if I just try my best, I can improve that score, I did better.

So, I did an hour on the Wii. I did 14 rounds of step aerobics, which disappointed me greatly because I thought the step aerobics would be something that would get my heart rate up, but it didn't. It was more an exercise in rhythm and balance (which I badly need).

After finally getting the hang of the step aerobics, and thinking, "Shit, I've burned like no calories and I've been doing this for 40 fucking minutes! This exercise is useless!", I decided I needed to do something fun.

In comes the hula hoop exercise. Now *that* is a calorie burner. I was panting and my heart was going fast and I was sweating after a mere 15 minutes of hula hooping. It's as intense as Wii boxing, but I managed to get a really good score after I figured out what was going on.

I also got a stitch in my side so intense I could NOT stand upright for a couple of minutes, either.

So, I redid the body test again. I was still obese (though an entire 1/4th pound lighter, which I attribute to the OMGSWEATINGLIKEAPIG hula hoop exercises), and went through the agility and balance exercises again.

This time, it recalculated my age at 25! And since I'm 24 and will be 25 in nary a month and change, that's JUST RIGHT. Hence my conclusion that I botched some of the first tests because I didn't know how to operate the thing.

So, I'm obese and 25 now, according to the Wii. Which is true. Here's to hoping that when I'm actually 25, I won't be so obese. Or as obese.

health, exercise, come play with my wii, weight
