... But I've Been Wrong Before

I may have to retract my post concerning Force Unleashed, and wait to pass judgment on it. Now that some of the content is coming out, and I recently learned that much of the story was written by fairly competent people (by my standard, that is), I have to say I'm not sure how bad it will actually be. I saw a game review from a non-fanboy (finally!) that made it sound fairly well-made as a video game, and it mentioned what I think is a key factor here- that it's an action/RPG, which means acquiring "skill points" (or something similar) to buy better and more powerful abilities; I assume the highest levels of power are what we're seeing in the video clips. I take the review with a generous helping of salt, given that the author was also very excited about the animated Clone Wars movie, and thought that Knights of the Old Republic was "boring" (blasphemy!) but I suppose if Force Unleashed (darnit, I can't just acronym that...) makes a point of saying that the apprentice is some kind of prodigy or savant, or "enhanced" somehow, maybe that'll be ok. Plus, has anyone else cracked open the novel yet? It looks surprisingly well done for a Star Wars story, from the few pages I read. It's definitely a much darker vision of the SW universe, and not the happy, made-for-kids one from the prequels (yes, even Episode 3), which will be a nice change that's been long-awaited.

Nope, there isn't any relevant news from my life here, but since I publicly lambasted Force Unleashed in my last post, I may as well make the retraction equally visible.

Lunch break over, back to work.
