In which our hero sends a communique from Nuthinhappenistan
Nuthinhappenistan is actually not too bad a place to be, actually. I spent February mostly settling in and getting accustomed to the new status quo. And status quo is good, very good, after a long spell of confusion and chaos.
I'm a thoroughly domesticated creature, I guess. I like a bit of normality to my life.
Anyway, work has been very busy; I've been putting in OT pretty much every week. Unlike most of my previous IT contracting jobs, though, I'm actually getting paid for it, and that's no bad thing. I like my team; we're a disparate bunch, but we have a broad range of skills, and so far we're getting the job done. They're also nice folks on a personal level, and that makes any job better.
Also, if you're one of my many friends in Blacksburg who said "Hey! Welcome back! Let's meet up some time," I haven't been blowing you off. February was a tight month, financially speaking, and I don't feel comfortable going out if I expect my friends to pick up every tab. Going forward I should have a little more dinero in el fondo discrecional, so you'll probably hear from me this week.
