It's Hard To Believe, Isn't It?, Jack/Liz, marrying someone else, PGmichellekOctober 31 2008, 05:40:10 UTC
She says: "I can't believe I'm getting married."
He says: "Neither can I."
"Well. Thanks."
"Lemon--"
"It's fine. You didn't think anyone would want to marry me, and that's fine."
There's another explanation, of course. (She's always had a way of jumping to the wrong conclusion.) Something about how he didn't expect his chance with her to slip through his fingers. Something about how he's spent a good chunk of their friendship expecting her to be his second wife (the first who'd spend most of their time together liking him). He could tell her, has almost done so several times since she announced her engagement. He could tell her, but there's no benefit in it. (He's sure her ignorance of his feelings for her is willful.)
"Well," he says finally. "I will admit I was wrong."
"That's kind of your only choice, though."
He's silent for a moment. "You're right."
(He tries to think of an excuse he could use to get out of attending the wedding.)

Awwww, Jack. :(
This was sad and beautiful. It would be rather like Jack to expect Liz to just always "be there."

Aww, poor Jack! I definitely think that Jack would be in shock that Liz would get married before he would get remarried. And that she wouldn't get married to him. Fantastic drabble!

How about...he convinces Tracy to come up with a plot involving Ninjas and Liz being kidnapped? You know, temporarily. Because no Liz = no wedding. Yes?
