I'm going to NEW ORLEANS tomorrow.

Or actually, around this time tomorrow I'll be in Georgia on my layover, but come evening I'll be in New Orleans to attend the Sigma Tau Delta Convention, where I'll be presenting a paper Saturday morning.

And, dude, it's in New Orleans.  My hotel's in the French Quarter.  Where my boss (and my mother's boss too, as it turns out) used to live for a long-ass time, and gave me notes and a crudely-drawn but highly practical map.  And my friend's girlfriend currently lives down there and works in the gay-ass hardware store in the Quarter.

An old roommate of mine's doing the chauffeur business these days, and I get a free ride in a town car up to the airport tomorrow.  My sister's taking care of my cat, bird and plants while I'm gone, in exchange for using my car (I think she wants to go see her little paramour she picked up during the Faire season; he's been going out to her school to see her but totaled his car like two weeks back).  Some friends and I are venturing out tomorrow night for some "vampire tour" and from there I got a few other places in mind, and a few days to pull it off (while also hitting up some speakers and presentations at the convention)--and then I leave there Sunday morning, get back into KC in the evening.

Getting my sister from her school later today; still gotta pack but I more or less know what I'm bringing clothes-wise.  Also bringing a few books, more for the flights and waits at airports, but--A History of God just because that's what I've been reading; Habibi by Naomi Shihab Nye, who is one of the speakers at the convention; and The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice and Liquor by Poppy Z. Brite for mood reading, haha.

Shall report more when I've returned; anyone reading this, have a good week!
