Even if most of it's turning to snow right now--still a nice sensation. We noticed the change in the precipitation last night when it first started sprinkling, and I for one am excited. We're over half-way through February now, which means that this time next month there might be green things coming back.
And in a couple of weeks on the 6th, my great-grandmother's turning 90. We're going to have a party for her. I'm thinking of getting or making her something, I just need to figure out what it is she'd like to have or eat or whatever.
Yesterday morning I had this distressing dream that someone had scrapped 2/3 of my car. Like, three of the tires were gone, most of the exterior, et cetera. Then I found my steering wheel and stereo controls welded into the grill of my neighbor's car.
--Now, why someone with an awesome purple car would want to accessorize it in parts cannibalized from a splotchy wild Oldsmobile, I dunno. Guess that's why it was a weird-ass dream.
At any rate, my phone ringing woke me up out of it. At 6:30 a.m. I picked up and said Hello?, and well....
My father prank-called me at 6:30 in the morning.
My mother owns an alarm clock that's two cats fighting, getting louder and more obnoxious the longer you go without turning it off. My dad called me and held that up to the speaker. Or rather, he called me, gave the phone to my mom, telling her that I was his friend Dave, and when she heard me pick up they started trying to pawn the phone and the clock off on each other.
I don't need to look back and check on what phase the moon was when I was conceived. I've got full-fledged proof that I was brought into this world by a pair of lunatics.
Caught another hour of sleep after that, and after hearing my roommate and his girlfriend in the front of the house. There wasn't really anything to lead me to this suspicion, but I was thinking, Oh my G-d, if they're having sex I'm gonna be furious--not really with the act itself, but this is my Catholic prep-school I-translated-the-Aeneid-I'm-so-smart knows-shit-about-girls, roommate--and if I'm not getting any action right now, he sure as hell better not be.
Then the Internet wasn't working yesterday morning, so I didn't get the e-mail from my History teacher that he's dying from flu and there'd be no class again. Then at 9:30 I arrive to an empty classroom and go SHIT!, and didn't feel like going back home so proceeded to spend almost twelve hours at the school dicking around and going to my other classes.
He'll be okay, though. I got an e-mail from him this morning saying he's alive because he thought that dying from an Old World pathogen would be too cliche (he's Choctaw Indian). Class on Tuesday, add another chapter of reading to the readings I still need to finish.
Marie came over after night class, and after a quick run to the grocery store (my favorite, one-eyed guard was there, and the cashier scanned some random Chopper-Shopper card because I don't have one--nocturnal grocery-shopping is a most pleasant experience) I introduced her to the awesomeness that is the egg sandwich I concocted last week: fried egg with pepperjack and mushrooms on top of it, with spinach, tomatoes, and mustard. We had that and some blueberries and wrapped up the Rescue Yukina storyline of YYH.
Not a bad evening--even when aforementioned roommate and the girlfriend (who's a friend of mine, so I don't mind her) came home and annexed the couch. My couch. And he at least is on this high school mentality right now of OMG I've gotta hold her hand and kiss her neck and shit at the lunch table in the hallway on the couch! Also, he's a think-I-know-it-all show-off on his own--but he's ten times worse lately because he's trying to impress her.
My other roommates came home a little later and it got worse. The three of us are not impressed, and he's gonna get smacked if he doesn't tone down the shit, soon. *sigh* Bitch.
Now I think all the rain's been transformed into really fat snowflakes coming down, but that springtime smell's still lingering so I won't be too depressed over it. I've got one class today, History of Modern China and Japan, in about an hour; then this evening I guess there's some tech-rehearsal thing for Theatre Works (students write one-act plays and anyone who auditions and gets cast gets to act them out). Johnna's directing a Monty Python-type spoof on the Odyssey and a month ago I agreed to be one of the sheep in the background (I monosyllabically bitch out the sailors and hold the Twister spinner--don't ask) so I suppose I'm obliged to be there the entire time for my small appearance and utterances of "Baa" (I might be a smart-ass and throw a "Barbara Anne" somewhere in there). This is my day, thus far.
Oh--but über-nerd demands an appearance this morning, so while dicking around on YouTube because I found some ghostly AMVs that I thought were pretty decent. First up, Mononoke and Marilyn Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams"!:

Followed by, YYH and "BUST" by Outkast (I love the ... synthesized organ??? at the beginning of the song):

This is über-nerd! I'll post something about books or something later, just to be a balanced nerd...
