So, the other day my lovely wife chennpug says to me, "Honey, I want Rock Bank." I carefully respond back that we don't have a system to play rockband on (it's true, we only have a PS 1). "Honey, I want it anyways."
Crap.
Now, for those of you not in the know, there are 4 versions available.
Wii, Xbox360, PS2, and PS3
Now we'd been hoping to get a Wii and a PS2 for quite a while now, but the Wii doesn't play DVDs, and we would like a 2nd DVD player for the other TV. We also discovered that the Wii and PS2 versions of Rock Band do not include all of the features, including the ability to make your own rockers, a much sought after feature by Chennpug.
So suddenly we found ourselves discussing the merits of a PS3 vs an Xbox360.
Between BluRay's victory and the fact that everyone we know has a 360, we opted for the PS3.
So we went out, bought a PS3, bought Rock Band, and a token BluRay disc (Enchanted).
We got it home and I suddenly remembered, as if it wasn't obvious every time we watch something, that our TV is one of the crappiest TVs in existence. Not only is it 20", but it's at least 10 years old, and only has RF input. That's right, I said RF input. Coax. Which seems fine since we get cable, but when you start wanting to do, oh I don't know, anything else, you have to run the line through the DVD player. In our case, this includes the PS3.
Yes, I did just say that. We're running a PS3 composite output, into the DVD player, and then using the RF output on the DVD player to display the screen. This is not only retarded, but also requires the usage of the DVD player, which we'd really like to relocate to the other TV. Thus the journey continues.
The following day I bought a used 30" widescreen CRT HDTV off of craigslist. It's 127 pounds of awkwardness. Managed to get it home (thanks again Chris) and promptly remembered (are you seeing a pattern here?) that our entertainment center is one of the crappiest in the world, and is in no way going to hold a TV that is nearly 3 feet wide and filled with lead.
So now I'm stuck with a large TV hanging out in the middle of my livingroom, a PS3 that is still running through a DVD player, a crappy TV that is no bigger than my computer monitor, and an entertainment center that needs to be replaced that is currently loaded with DVDs and tapes, a stereo, a PSone, games, etc.
And to top it off, I'm working late tonight, and we're leaving Friday to visit Chennpug's family for the weekend. So even if we rearrange furniture and somehow make it work, I'm not goign to have time to play or watch anything until Monday.
Also, I have a 11 week old at home, but that's not really all that intersting.
