Self-centered

Wow. I just got off the phone with the most self-centered person I've ever known.

She's a friend of mine, and I asked her if she was going to the club tonight. After chit-chat, she said that she wouldn't go unless she had someone to go with her. I said, "Well, I'm going if you are." She said she wanted someone who would go and not leave her side.

I told her that was self-centered, and she comes back with the old standby, "I don't have to explain myself to you."

I hate this line. It's a terrible line to deliver. Tacky. I made an illogical comeback.

"Yes you do."

"No I don't," she said.

"Yes, you do, because you're bringing up an incredibly weird point, and you need to explain it."

"No, because you're lower on the totem pole. You're not my boyfriend, or my lover, you're just my friend. And not even high up on the friend totem pole."

"...wow."

"Yeah, exactly."

"No, I mean wow. You are one fucked up kid. I'm hanging up now."

She started talking, but I didn't hear it. I'm still wow-ing this one. I'm not even in a bad mood, or angry. I don't even feel sorry for her. Just, wow. What an idiot.
