Hurray!! Jacob Marshall wrote me back! I just have to put the letter in here...its so great...and awsome. Now everyone knows what I want to do with my life...yippy.

Alex, thanks for the interest. I wish I had a more concise and consolidated plan for you to follow but all of my exact records are at home in storage. Basically though, this is how it went. I went through a department called Interdisciplinary Studies. This is the department that education majors usually go through to customize their curriculum. They should (depending on the school) have the option to submit your own proposal for a customized degree pulling together courses from the various departments to achieve a result that the traditional degree programs don't facilitate.
My university (Old Dominion U) had basically what amounts to a minor in aesthetics in the arts and sciences. This track allowed people to pull from several different disciplines perspectives on the human response to beauty.
My primary interests were the relationship between sensation, perception, emotion and meaning. In other words, I was intrigued my why I felt the way I did when I listened to music and why I noticed strange correlations between sensory stimulation with respect to that response. Why did certain colors or shades or textures make sense when experienced simultaneously with certain music and why was there no language to describe that experience.
I did two years of funded research through the honors college on the relationship between color and sound that was the foundation for the concept of multisensory aesthetic experience.
There is a lot more to it but I will let you come up with your own questions and do my best to answer them if I can. Good luck and remember, the most important thing in life is to question. Best, Jacob
