A Night on the Town
mudcub and I went to see Marinne Faithfull tonight at City Winery, a superb intimate club for musicians. She had only been a punchline on Absolutely Fabulous for me before, it was great getting to see her perform nearly a two-hour set without a break. She performed many of her own songs, but also songs written for her by Mick Jagger, Rogers Waters, Tom Waits, etc. Oddest moment: audience laughter and applause when she lit up a cigarette, but I guess it's responsible for much of her voice these days. Afterwards a late dinner of cocktails, beef marrow w/ oxtail jelly, artichoke, steak, and sweetbreads at Blue Ribbon. I felt very much the sophisticated Noo Yawker.
