A little of both, really. Tombs are a huge disappointment. They never reset, so can only be explored once in any save file.

Vacations I'm kind of mixed about. They are a great money sink, I burned through a million simoleons for my richest family without even trying, and the locations are great. But, I haven't really found a way to build up ancient coins, the currency for vacation rewards, without tomb raiding. Given the nature of tombs, this is very frustrating.

Mostly, the expansion adds a ton of building tools. New plants, new construction options, basements, etc. None of them are strictly essential, but the base game is painfully limited by comparison. And, if you want to use player created worlds, worlds made with WA installed are glitchy if not outright unplayable if loaded into a game without it.

Nectar making is fun. Photography is okay, but has a few annoying issues. Martial arts I haven't really gotten into yet. Transmuting is cool, but a huge money sink. Overall, I like having the expansion. I bought it on sale at Target and don't regret the purchase.

Hmmmm *is tempted*

The original was so lacking... I might have to try the expansion out when I have money.
