Echoing their joyous strains

I celebrated Christmas the way most people do-- drinking various alcohols, eating inordinate amounts of potatoes, playing ping-pong (with an automatic game-win clause if you manage to hit the ball into the fish tank), and watching videos of turtle sex.

(Also, the New Year has yet to come, but I have already resolved to stop posting about animal genitalia and/or sex, or at least to not mention it for the next couple entries. I think I've crossed some sort of line.)

Also! I was going to bed, and I said, "My God, Thorne, you didn't make a lol-Pope for this year, go back to your computer and do so immediately." To which I replied to myself, "Fuck off, I'm tired and I ate too many potatoes." To which I immediately countered with, "You can't not do a lol-Pope when some crazy chick took down the pope like a professional rugby player, Thorne. It would go against all your principles."

What really impressed me, (and which also seems to have impressed all the news outlets relating this story) is that this isn't even the first time this woman has tried to tackle the pope. Apparently she had a go at it last year, failed, refined her strategy, and then executed it with better success. That takes effort! In the face of such dedication, I decided I had to at least make a half-assed attempt.

For one thing, I would have known way better than to get within close range of the pope. Close enough to tackle is close enough to be obliterated by his eye lasers.

And because it was so very half-assed, I decided to do two more general lol-Popes.

I'm sure it's some kind of mortal sin to talk about both the pope and turtle sex in the same entry, but I'm gonna chance it.

At any rate, I hope everyone had a wonderful day regardless of religious belief or celebratory habit, and that you all are now sleeping off your food-comas and hangovers, or having a good time with loved ones, or reading your Yuletide stories, and are not currently on fire or in jail. That's really all we can ask for in a holiday, and I hope it holds true for y'all.
