[Book reading in 2008) Dies the Fire

Dies the Fire by S.M. Stirling

The basic premise here is that all of a sudden the laws of physics change so that electricity, gunpowder and similar technology stop working. The book follows the progress of some people as they try to cope with the sudden change.

Of course the people who are the main characters in the book are more capable than most people in coping with the change. I'm sure that's done to make the book interesting, since I'm not sure a book following one or more of the people who couldn't cope with the change would be that interesting.

It's well written, interesting, held my attention all the way through. But I'm not sure I'd read the sequels.
