she's so high

They'd all dodged something big, Thor was certain of that. None of them hard been overly prepared when SHIELD called the Avengers in to deal with a threat in Manhattan. They'd all known that something else could be coming, that the invasion would only just be the beginning, but he thought that perhaps they had all expected a little more time. It ( Read more... )

When the X-men had got the call, Ororo and the team didn't even hesitate to accept despite not really knowing if the 'Avengers' were friends or vigilantes with their own agenda. They fought well and Ororo had always followed her instincts and they told her that they truly were after the common good. It didn't mean she wouldn't view the debrief with rose colored glasses, but she would keep an opened mind.

Her gaze flicked over toward the one that commanded the weather as she could. As far as she knew she was the only one with that ability and the Professor had assured her that he was not a mutant. It only added to her curiosity about him.

Thor tried to pay attention during these meetings, though he admittedly often had trouble. For one, he really would like a nap soon, and for another, all of this logistical talk about their next steps and finances and small details really had little to do with him. Fury would be sure that Thor got the important details and that was all that mattered. He felt even more distracted, however, by the presence of their guests.

He glanced her way every so often, catching the woman's eyes as her own had flicked his way. A small thrill ran through him and he stood just a little taller. Was she just as curious as he? Did she even know who he was?

Fury cleared his throat and Thor snapped back to attention. They were wrapping up, now. Thank the Allfather. Thor was starting to feel anxious. He didn't like sitting and waiting.

Ororo's attention might have wavered now and then in the meeting but she was good at multi-tasking thoughts so had picked up what needed to be retained even as she wondered about the blonde man. As Fury ended the meeting, Ororo whispered to the others of her team that she would meet them at the Blackbird.

She would not pass on the opportunity to speak with another that could manipulate weather. Ororo made her way over to him, ignoring the looks of her teammates, her blue eyes full of her own curiosity. Her lips curved into a smile in greeting. "I am Ororo Munroe, do you have a moment to talk?"

Thor's eyebrows shot up. True, he had spent almost the entirety of the meeting thinking about her and he had not considered that she might be doing the same. Or that she had even really noticed him. He had been prepared to stop her himself but she had beaten him to the punch.

"Ororo," he replied, a smile gracing him lips as he tried the name. He liked it. "A moment, yes. I believe I can spare one for you."

Ororo motioned for him to follow her a little out of the earshot of others. Not that the conversation was personal, nor would it matter much where it was held with telepaths nearby, but she still opted for a little privacy.

"I noticed that you also manipulate weather." Her lips quirked a little at the understatement. "Do you mind if we talk about the ability?" Ororo took pride in her mutation, but not all felt the same way.

A smile tugged at Thor's lips and he couldn't resist puffing up his chest a little. To see the way that she had so gracefully employed the skies to her own uses earlier, and then hear that she had noticed him, was exciting for him. He was glad to hear that he had left some kind of impression.

"I noticed you as well," he said, watching her with bright curiosity. He was grateful that she had offered to give them some privacy, even just for a simple conversation discussing the weather. He knew there were a few of his new friends who would likely tease him for this later. "Your skills, I mean. You possess much grace when handling the skies."

Ororo inclined her head just slightly, a smile still tugging at her lips. "It wasn't that way in the beginning but thank you. My emotions used to get the better of me, before I learned to control them." Her blue eyes were curious though there was an underlying humor evident in them as she looked at him. "Are your emotions tied to the weather as well?"

Thor tilted his head, curious. He had not experienced that kind of a connection to the weather. It was Mjolnir that allowed him to manipulate the skies, not anything within himself.

"Not in the same way, I do not think," he admitted. He reached up to rub his beard idly, thinking. "It is my hammer, Mjolnir that is attached to the weather. Though... It is true that my emotions are deeply tied to Mjolnir."

That gave Ororo pause and she thought back to the battle and the use of his hammer. Her brow furrowed a bit through her thoughts as she pulled the strings together.

"Your hammer is your conduit? It focuses your emotions and ability and projects them on the weather?"

"I believe that is accurate, yes," Thor replied with a nod. He gave her another small smile. "The hammer is what allows me use the weather to my own will. Without it I am just you average Asgardian with intensive combat training."

He chuckled at his own joke. He so rarely got the jokes that others told, sometimes he had to make his own.

"Asgardian?" Ororo asked with a slight furrow of the brow. She knew that he wasn't a mutant, but perhaps it was another form of it, using objects as Remy used cards. Perhaps Asgardian is the term he uses.

"Oh," Thor blinked, a little surprised. He hadn't considered that she might not know of his origins. Silly of him, really, but he'd gotten used to people just knowing. But he supposed that was just SHIELD.

"I apologize," he continued, shaking his head. "I am from a realm called Asgard, I am not of your Earth. I am very far from my home, so to speak."

"Oh! Like the Shi'ar? You're from another planet." Ororo smiled. "Or do you mean another reality?" She had experince in both in her time wih the X-men. Ororo also had experience with people coming back from the dead. That was a very good thing, if hard on your emotions.

Thor smiled, glad that she didn't seem to be too put off by the fact that he was not from Earth. Quite the contrary, she seemed intrigued by it. It was certainly a good sign.

"Another planet, is more accurate. Though, my home spreads across more than one planet," he explained. "Asgard is my home, just as Midgard is yours. Your 'Earth' is one world of many that makes up the realm of Midgard."

Ororo took in what he said and she wasn't sure that she understood what Thor was saying. "Midgard is more than one planet then? Like the Solar System rather than just one." It was actually quite interesting. "Do others in your world control the weather, too?"

Thor nodded, eager that he had been able to explain himself. He sometimes had trouble formulating the correct words to express himself.

"Yes! Yes, that is correct. Though Midgard does make up more than just your solar system," he explained. He smiled brightly at her next question. "I have friends who can do much more than that. There are many great sorcerers, where I am from."
